Love this! Gives me Gundam vibes and I love the prop you made. Keep up the amazing work! :D

DedRoll responds:

Thank you! :D

Yes it is from Gundam

You really nailed it! I'm a huge fan of the Silent Hill 2 cover or Dave McKean style and also old 90s to 2000s pre-rendered style as well. Love the way you use the screen tones and I wish I knew how to use them wisely. Great work and keep going! :D

scumsuck responds:

Really glad you caught the style references I'm going for! Thanks so much for enjoying it.

Wow! How do you manage to make pixel art like this with a big canvas size? I use Krita and tried to use the pixel art brushes on a A4 canvas but it didn't give the right effect that I was intending :/
Either way, good work and keep it up! :D

magianfellow responds:

Funnily enough, the canvas size used for this is only 256x192, which is the same resolution as the old Nintendo DS screens. I have Krita for doing a bit of animating but I highly recommend Aseprite, since it has more brushes and tools specifically catered to pixel art. For a lot of the "noise" effects in the clouds and mountains, I used a spray tool (similar to the one in MS Paint). If you prefer a free alternative that is similar to Aseprite, there is also GraphicsGale...

How do you do environment art so well?! Also, love the H.P LoveGun you drew as well. Kepp up the awesome work! :D

dudegross responds:

a lot of wires, and garbage and crying at 2am
fr tho I try to just have fun with it, add more and more bullshit till it looks "lived in" :D

How do you practice perspective to get that good? That's one of the few things I struggle with art. That along with backgrounds, texture, lighting and colour. Still though, this is fantastic art and keep up the awesome work! :D

joohoshi responds:

Thank You!! I go on Pinterest and type in search "perspective poses" you'll find loads of good references to practice :D your artwork is amazing keep up the hard work! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ

k1prian responds:

thank you so much!

How do you draw metal parts like this? I freaking love these kinds of characters and your style is awesome. Keep up the amazing work! :D

JukeIncorporated responds:

TY so much!!! I used a new technique to draw this metal, I started with shading in black and white then added a filter to increase the contrast. Then I applied a gradient map to set the values to blue and beige. Peter mohrbacher is who I learned about gradient maps from, check him out!

Wait so you can make your thumbnail for your art? If so, how do you do that?

fish-flop responds:

Oh, yeah! When you first add your art, it will automatically make you crop it for the thumbnail. But then if you mouse back over that cropped thumbnail, it will show an "Upload Image" option. You just click that and then you can upload a custom one.

I absolutely love this style!!

NinAcTi0N responds:

Ayy, thank you so much!! I've been having so much fun experimenting-

I really love the texture and effect, I have no idea how you can pull this off but keep up the good work! :D

psychicpxl responds:

Thank you very much! I make the animation in Blender :3 And I'll keep trying to get better!
